The Home Care sector in Ireland plays a vital role in supporting an ageing population by providing essential services such as personal care, medical assistance, and daily living support within the comfort of one’s home. The HSE’s home care budget for 2025 is €838 million and this budget has increased by 71% since 2020.

Demand for home care has grown significantly in recent years due to increased life expectancy, a preference for aging in place, and pressure on residential care facilities. However, the sector faces ongoing challenges, including staffing shortages, fragmented service delivery, and the need for better regulation and funding.
